LARGE SWEET CHESTNUT TROUGH

I made this planter about 10 years ago out of a large piece of Sweet Chestnut. The wood was originally about 1.5 tonnes in weight before being cut. It has not been treated with anything and consequently, has turned a lovely silvery colour. Although it is raised slightly off the ground, as it's resting on railway sleepers, it has become slightly rotten around the edges, but because the sides of the trough are thick, there's no danger of the integrity being compromised.

A beautiful addition to the garden when in full bloom.
