rectangular, London plane table

London Plane trees are common in the UK and grow to massive dimensions. The wood has beautifully vivid grain which, when unseasoned, is a pinkish colour, it holds an edge well and is wonderful to work with.
I milled this specimen down to a slab 3 inches thick, then cut it into a rectangle (7.5 feet long x 3.5 feet wide).
The frame & legs are made of Oak, but stable enough to provide adequate support for the weight.
As you can see, when dried the timber turns a golden brown and after varnishing the beautiful texture of the wood is exhibited.
